Nights Like Tonight

Its nights like tonight,

Where a long day at the office,

Makes me miss holding you tight.

Something doesn't feel right.

On a night like tonight.

 

Its days like today,

Where I stare at the screen.

And I just want to say,

Hey.

I feel in dismay.

On a day like today.

 

Its years like this,

Where I search for truth.

At the edge of the abyss.

Reality hits like a fist.

And the thought of a kiss,

Tears at my grip.

In a year like this.

 

Its lives like mine,

Where dichotomy reigns true.

I'm perpetually aware of time.

And though it seems benign,

I'm searching for design.

And to that task I may try,

But it's me that I find.

In this life of mine.
